A Morning With Amanda Jones
For over 25 years, Amanda has been working psychoanalytically with babies & parents. During this presentation, Amanda will share some of what she has learnt about how a parent’s defensive processes can impact their baby’s development. An important therapeutic task is to try to interrupt the intergenerational transmission of parental trauma but, inevitably, the psychoanalytic clinician will also have to manage their own defensive processes. This can lead to reenactments & ruptures of trust in the therapeutic relationship. Amanda will share some thoughts about what can help repair & restore trust when such hurt happens.
