UKCP Agreement

Registering with United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP )

Listing of ICP members with UKCP: Thanks to a special agreement between the two organisations, ICP members can be listed on the national register of the UKCP and vice versa.

ICP members applying to be listed on the UKCP register must be resident in Ireland and be registered in a modality recognised by both organisations. You can check whether the UKCP recognises your modality on the UKCP website. 

ICP remains responsible for all aspects of quality assurance for ICP members on the UKCP register.

Terms of the Agreement

  • This facility is available to all Psychotherapists who come under the umbrella of ICP and UKCP who continue to reside in the country of their actual registration. 
  • If an ICP registrant , who is listed on the UKCP register decides to take up residence in the UK he or she will need to apply for ordinary membership with UKCP.
  • Members remain under the jurisdiction, ethics and procedures of their country of residence. 
  • How to apply: To apply please download and complete the application form. Send your completed form with a cheque for €50 (payable to ICP) to ICP Administrator, Irish Council for Psychotherapy, Fitzwilliam Hall, Fitzwilliam Place, Dublin 2 D02 T292. 

Members are advised to clarify with their individual insurers questions relating to working outside their normal jurisdiction. Insurers vary in their requirements in relation to cover in certain circumstances.
